About Me

My name is Julia Morlino and I have an M.S in clinical mental health counseling from Capella University, additionally I am certified health coach (INHC) from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. I began working in clinical settings providing peer support for children in 2005 working with children who have lost primary caregivers. Additionally I have worked at Spaulding Rehabiliation Hospital as a rehab aid and continue to work at South Shore Mental Health as and In Home Therapy Clinician for children and families. I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) as well as the American Mental Health Counseling Association (AMHCA).

I became interested in the role that food plays in physical and mental health when my mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and was able to inhibit the growth of cancer cells through diet, and other holistic healing methods. Through this journey with my mother, I came across many studies suggesting that the influence of processed foods on the American population had contributed to the rise of cancers, and many mental health ailments. While studying for my Masters, I focused a great deal of my graduate work on the influence of diet on the manifestation and exacerbation of mental health symptoms. It is not my belief that all mental health issues can be cured through food, but that in order to fully analyze mental health, one must be at a baseline of physical health.
